Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate (aqueous) - a Natural Sea Salt
PURE and NATURAL: Elektra Magnesium mineral bath salt (magnesium chloride hexahydrate mgCl2.6h20) is naturally harvested by evaporation from sea water which comes from a remote lake 3,200m above sea level in the Tibetan Plateau. Independent laboratory testing has found no mercury and no lead.
Sodium is removed during the evaporation process to leave 98% magnesium chloride hexahydrate, meaning a minimum of 46% magnesium chloride is attached to 6 water molecules to make up the 98%, plus 2% sea trace minerals.
The flakes can be dissolved in water to make Magnesium Oil (between 35% to 70% solution). Just mix 35 to 70 grams of flakes with 100ml water. Strength depends on skin sensitivity. Very sensitive skins may need more dilution. Magnesium oil isn't a real oil, but has an 'oily' or slippery texture when magnesium chloride flakes are dissolved in water in high concentration. Magnesium is in short supply in the soils of countries that are using NPK fertiliser chemical farming methods. Australia however tops the list in the world when it comes to magnesium deficient soils. If there's not enough magnesium in the soil, there's not enough in the plants that are grown in it. Processing methods can further deplete magnesium in foods.
Magnesium is an essential electrolyte and fundamental co-factor to other nutrients (such as calcium). It is vital to our energy, metabolic processes, bone health, immune system and heart health. It also helps to buffer the body from the adverse effects of toxins. When the body has sufficient magnesium available it can eliminate waste products, heavy metals and other toxins more efficiently.
It is magnesium that pairs with calcium to take it into the bones. Without sufficient magnesium the excess calcium is deposited in the soft tissue and joints where it 'calcifies' or hardens - a sign of premature ageing. Too much calcium can increase the risk of kidney stones, cataracts, artheriosclerosis, arthritis and joint problems.

Transdermal Absorption
Magnesium absorbed transdermally (through the skin) is gentle and effective. It doesn't irritate the bowel as does oral ingestion. Transdermal absorption of magnesium chloride can be up to 12 times faster and more efficient than absorption through the gut with oral supplementation.
EXPERIMENT:
We asked 'Susan' to apply a natural body butter moisturiser, which was infused with 15% magnesium chloride hexahydrate flakes dissolved in water, as a test on just her right arm and right leg over 3 months.
The 'before' photos were taken on 1 March and next set on 2 June 2009. You will see that all parts of her body started to heal - not just the arm and leg that was receiving the magnesium application... Susan is still applying the magnesium, but each month there is an improvement on the last.
Cleansing and Detox
Magnesium is a great buffer against chemicals and toxins in the environment and it is an antagonist to fluoride. If magnesium is in short supply the fluoride will bind with the small amount of magnesium there is and cause it to be excreted in the urine. Fluoride competes to occupy sites in the bones that the magnesium should be occupying. It is therefore vital to make sure your body has ample supply of magnesium to counteract the toxic effects of fluoride and other toxins that may inadvertently be ingested from food, water or pharmaceuticals. (Note: Professor Paul Connett advises drinking filtered water and beverages without fluoride (www.fluoridealert.org) Fluoride inhibits enzyme activity, whereas magnesium supports enzyme activity. Counteract Acidity... Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate is pH 7.0 (neutral) in solution.
Magnesium Calms the Nerves, Relaxes the Muscles, Promotes Good Sleep
It is the single most important mineral for maintaining proper electrical (electrolyte) balance, facilitating smooth cell metabolism and stabilising membranes. • Foot Soak (suggest minimum one heaped tablespoon per bucket)
• Body Spray (suggest minimum one heaped teaspoon per 350ml)
• Mouthwash (suggest minimum one heaped teaspoon per 350ml)
• Compress for Sprains and Swelling (soak bandage in solution)
• Moisturizer Blend... Recipe: Dissolve 75g magnesium chloride hexahydrate flakes in 100ml pure water and gradually pour into 400g natural moisturiser body butter (ie. no artifical chemical additives) whilst beating/stirring until fully blended.
Notes: Use pure water to dissolve Elektra Magnesium for mouthwash, body spray, moisturizer and compress. If your bath water is fluoridated and unfiltered then add a little extra magnesium salts. For therapeutic use, higher concentrations may be required. Please refer to your health practitioner.
Caution: Avoid direct contact with eyes and sensitive areas when undiluted. If you experience slight stinging sensation, simply dilute further with water.
